Blue Stream Research, formed in 2014, was set up to bring about the organisational resilience seen in High Reliability Organisations (HROs) into high-risk industry, by building on the experience and expertise of Blue Stream Consulting

Tom AndersonManaging Director

Dr Tom Anderson is Managing Director of Blue Stream Research. With over 25 years experience as an engineer and consultant (as the Managing Director of Blue Stream Consulting), he has held technical, advisory and strategic roles in safety critical industries, including construction, reprocessing and decommissioning sectors of the UK nuclear industry. 

As a qualified Organisational Psychologist, Tom has implemented behavioural and transformational change programmes in the oil & gas, nuclear and healthcare sectors. His fields of expertise include High Reliability Organisation (HRO) practices, safety culture development, safety leadership improvement and workforce behavioural change. Tom is a member of the European HRO Group which promotes collaboration between industrial practice and academic research in HROs and Resilience Engineering. He is also a member of the Center of Catastrophic Risk Management Forum, Berkeley University, California.  Tom is a Visiting Researcher at Lancaster University, and a regular guest lecturer in risk management at Lancaster University Management School.

Rachel ParrattDirector

Dr Rachel Parratt, Director Blue Stream Research, has over 20 years experience in a range of clinical and scientific fields as both a PhD researcher, and medical writer. Having worked in the NHS, and with pharmaceutical companies, contract research organisations, medical communications/education agencies in Europe, the US and Australia, Rachel’s expertise lies in writing for different target audiences. Rachel is raising the profile of HRO practice and Resilient Safe Working through the development of accredited learning programmes, conference publications, and articles in the nuclear, oil & gas, and maritime trade press.
